The Ram Air air cleaner was the key to the whole program.....non-ram air formula's had the hoodscoops closed....and could easily be opened up with a jigsaw to replicate what the factory did.

,,,,was that how the factory really do it ??...I mean did they have to cut the inserts out?..not saying they used a jigsaw but were they just cut open,sanded and grille inserts added/...that air cleaner is quite special (ever see the price of a correct functioning repop?!)...the E-BAY car has a chrome lid (nice touch)...and lets not forget PAT BROWNs website 455HO.COM that sells the only correct 455 H.O. decal for these very special cars!!! (still another shameless plug)...I sometimes wish that I had that decal on the top of my air cleaner lid when I take off my shaker just to remind myself what motor I have..where is my air cleaner by the way??

No, that's not how the factory did it. They didn't sand them.

They used a rough jigsaw cut. If you go back to my initial black car thread you'll see how I replicated the holes on an NOS Formula hood that I installed on the black car.

If you find a hood with the cutouts flush and sanded smooth, then it was opened up at a later date. The assembly line "opened" hood inlets were erratically cut with a 1/8" to 1/4" ridge around the opening.
