Here's more. I bought this little sprayer at the parts store where I work and it was perfect for spraying the vinyl dye on the window crank knobs. If any of Y'all get one make sure to read the directions first. Do not shake the jar after putting paint in it! It will come out the vent and get all over you!

And a couple of the jack. I used old Ford engine blue on it. I painted the shaft with "Alumablast".

Charles: Icing is a brand of polyester filler…smooth and creamy and good for finishing.

Phil...what brand of dye/paint did you use for the crank knobs? Can it be used on the seats? I even need the same color I think...

I will get a picture of the can. It came from a paint supplier in California. It is dark aqua. My dash pad was dyed with it. I would think you could use it on the seats.

Sorry for the double post at the top of this page. For some reason the first post didn't show up when I reloaded the page. I even shut my browser down and restarted it and the post still didn't show.
Anyway, Here is a picture of the wheels on the car. The first is before the repaint.If I say so myself they do look better. And, I also painted the spare rim with Rustoleum gloss black. I have a bunch of small receipts to add up so I will update totals next week.

Ok, thanks Phil. I wonder if it's the same company I ordred my dash paint from. I only painted metal parts with it though. I got the company name from the Classical Pontiac site. I think it's call Color-Rite now but used to go by another name.
The wheels look great! Entire car actually....

I had about an hour free time tonight so I added up all my small receipts from the last few weeks. Here are the latest totals, They include 19 hours of labor restoring the wheels, jack and window crank knobs. I bought $181.96 worth of parts including a very nice air cleaner lid from Andre. Miscellaneous supplies totaled $98.02 and I paid a local tire shop $50.00 to take my tires off while I painted the rims then remount and balance them.

My Labor @ 545 hrs.........$10,900
Parts.............................$18,382.45
Outside labor..................$18,484.00
Gifts...............................$3,263.25

Total.............................$51,029.70

I GOT AIR!! I had my system vacuumed and charged Friday and I now have A/C. AT least my knees are cold. Now, all I have to do is install the ductwork and maybe my face will be cool! Before I do the ducting I am going to install two relays for my convertible top. I had to have my hood scoop insert repainted after a crack developed in the paint. And, I bought a set of trim rings and two window cranks from our host. While cleaning my old rings I noticed one was slightly different from the others. The inner lip on it is about half as big as the other three. It's not noticeable unless you are looking at all of them together but Y'all know how picky I can be! All total I spent $680.00. I'll update totals next week.
Oh yeah, the car show yesterday went well. There was no class judging but trophies were given to the top ten people's choice. I took third place. First went to my buddies 55 Nomad that has had a lot of custom work. It is a beautiful car and deserved to win.

I think you are right. The old wheel finish was dull and it detracted from the look of the car. Several people have said the same thing you did. Thanks for the compliment.

Well, here we are again. I do have a feeling that there will not be many more posts made as I am getting close to being as done as I can get the car.
As I stated in an earlier post I spent a good piece of change on the car. $128.00 went to the A/C shop for vacuuming and charging my system. That price included freon and compressor oil. I also spent $569.83 on parts which included new trim rings and several small parts.
I am not adding any labor this week because it only took about 5 minutes to install the new trim rings and I haven't done anything else. Here is a picture of the finished wheel with new trim rings and lug nuts.
