If you try this I looked on Amazon, and it had mixed reviews, but it seems as though it was poor preparation. The ones that said it worked great said they watched this video and it had more steps than what the package shows, and another one list the steps that he did.

I don't know if it will work, because they say it must use a tab, I could not tell from your picture, but it didn't look like you had a tab. Hopefully I just didn't see it.

...I bought that...its more to repair the grid...so I did not use it(kept it as I may need to touch up some spots)...still I think the braid gets soldered to what looks like a copper? grid(whatever it is made out of..it is laid out and atatches to the inside rear window...thanks!

PEPI..this is what I mean...the braid gets soldered to this orange grid...the kit (after I opened it)...I believe mentions it is not to attach the braid....I need not to screw up my speaker cut out too!!

That is what I thought I saw, just the braid and no tab. I wonder if the have a tech support that you could contact and ask them.

from the instruction sheet....."This product will not work on bare wires that have been soldered to window grid and have been removed"..its a 2 part kit...one is the tab adhesive...to reglue a tab that has lifted (a tab is at the end of a grid line)...the other part of the kit is to repair (like a paint)..a grid line...everything but what I need!...I was going to try soldering again(but now I cannot find my solder!?!...I will surf the net for ideas...if not I suppose it needs to be done the old fashion way (solder)....

PEPI...you inspired me to surf the web and I found what I need...I will order and post more info....for $35 this company sells products like(better) than PERMETEX...DR. FROST or something like that...they sell a solder paste you mix and apply(easy,no solder iron)...they also sell a paste you can heat with an solder iron...to repair the wire braid...so cool stuff...now I can repair this!!!!

the carpet dye worked great...a liguid spray I got online..even the foot pad and trim on the front carpet dyed black...before I dyed it I gave the carpet a trim (for fuzzies) with my Wahl beard trimmer.....an idea stolen from NJSTEVE...it was a great idea, and I have stolen more than one...he has had brilliant ones(one size smaller tire in the front for TRANSA AM attitude is my favorite...this carpet trim was great too..just a bit comical as I felt silly doing it..yet it worked perfect and perfect results (I had a blue fuzzy residue fall off when I shook it!!)...although it did seem rather weird though as I shaved it...what we do for car restoration...I am happy though having been able to score an original 1972 excellent condition original carpet...again since it had to be black..no trying to match some original color(that could not have been done)...it looks brand new!!!plus no cutting...a perfect fit and all the holes in place!...and what I am very pleased with is the original 80/20 loop...the new A.C.C. carpet that I had originally gotten (which my cats use as a comfy bedding) did not look this good...and the fit is perfect...I was reading an old thread by RICKSGTO that was extremely informative explaining how the factory originally used steam for a perfect fit (I learned so much I was wondering if you were a line worker for GM back in the day!...seriously though thankyou for all that info....sometimes restoring a car is difficult to compete with a multimillion dollar corporation and inferior after market products...I am good now but I wonder is it possible to get some type of high powered steamer to aid in the new carpet install?...reminds me of how the car bodies were electically charged for painting purposes...some things you just cannot duplicate like the factory

I do plan to give the front carpet a second coat...needed to order one more bottle...I just want the jet black look..it is tedious spraying the dye in and 100% coverage in all the loops...that is why I ran out on the front

....THANKS PEPI!!...they say to work the dye in with a brush but I prefer spraying it on heavy and letting it soak in..the rear carpet is done..thats why I ran out..plus the camera flash accents the lighter coverage..if you could see the overall carpet in person it really is turning out nice!..I just wanted to see a test look with the seats and console in...I want to get the floor mats like NJSTEVE put in his 72 T/A ...the factory style 72 black rubber with the white FIREBIRD..that will really dress up the carpet!..they are expensive...$150 for 4 floor mats..ouch!!!.I see RIT sells small bottles of premixed liguid dye too( at Walmart)..for $2.50 each..would need to buy a lot!!I will post some photos of how an original carpet is trimmed in..especially by the kick panels...will definitely help to use as a guide for a new carpet install..it gets cut straight across..then the plastic kick panels fit on...although I wish I had a 4 speed...the M-40 is a super duty trans.!..plus I had a 76 455 4speed...an old man like me needs an auto now..less to think about while driving!...a stick with no console is a cool look...but with the auto I do like the console as it really does finish off the interior..a rear console is even more over the top (I am leaving the padded hump cover though..I do not want to change that much...I do like how the front console is designed to continue down from the radio/ashtray..a cool design that Camaros stole a few years later (1973 I think)...I had toyed with adding a 8 -track 24 years ago..even bought one and had it all hooked up but would have still needed service...since it did not come with one I decided to better keep the map pocket(new repops have the chrome trim now!)..plus one less antique item to go bad and need service!!.crazy money to buy a good functioning unit!..my 76 had a factory 8-track..I still remember listening to PINK FLOYD... THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON and recall where it would fade out to change tracks!!

my first ride in a TRANS AM was the car I would end up owning..a 1976 Cameo white/white deluxe 455 4 speed (no air)...so when I took my brother to look at the car and talk to the owner (selling to get married!) I let him test drive and I sat in the back...I can still remember how cool it was to look up front at the engine turned dash with the Firebird emblem and the stick popping out the console...and of course the Formula wheel as he was driving..he did give it the thumbs up for me (23k miles)..so now we would go back to mom & dad that the car was o.k. to buy..and boy did I want it ($4500)..that I would slowly pay back (intrest free!)..so the pics from the rear seat are my best recreation from my 2nd TRANS AM ride...almost 30 years in the making so far and I do not even think I logged more than 200 miles on this High Output..my first T/A was a mint condition ride...the 2nd was all silver black standard interior and Rally 2s..the car needed to be restored that's why I never drove it as I knew it needed to be back to its former glory...just was not thinking perhaps 30 years and more??!!
