I can't believe that it's been 15 years since I built this! Used the ERTL '70-72 style Trans Am as the base. Shaved the wheel opening flares, cut the chin spoiler off. Had to use a little filler where the flares were. Plastic style valances was made from a thin sheet of aluminum and epoxy. not much to work with underneath. IIRC, i had to cut a lot of base plastic away and was barely able to retain the screw on the underside that holds the front end together. Interior and engine are from an ERTL '73 version. Created this to test color scheme ideas i had for the car a the time. Didnt' prime it and painted the doors off the car, so there is some bleed through on the filler and a shade variation on the doors from being shot at a different angle. (Testor's Panzer Grey)

Bob, do you recall your Super Duty being louder or quieter when compared to other new Firebirds back then?

Louder even when new. I went to Gettysburg back in 70's POCI conv and took the SD. I drove it there on Rt 30. I was 'escorted' out of a small Pa town by the police it was after midnight.I didn't get pulled over. At the conv. I was driving back to the hotel on the show field and heard one guy say to another my SD doesn't sound like that meaning mine. I only say I drive it. I didn't do anything to the exhaust. I have new RA Rest. manifolds and Pypes for the car. I just 'can't' bring myself to take the original off the car.

So does anyone know who is selling all the SD cars at Mecum Dallas? There are five selling, including the three below from the same seller. It's interesting they are all wearing BFG radials instead repro Poly's. Even the Brewster car that is listed as being MCACN Gold.
