What happened in upstate NY was a complete accident that claimed someones life. There was no skirmish on track between Tony and Ward prior to the incident. Ward thought he had been wronged and set out to vindicate something that had no merit. Now Stewart is in Wards role thinking WTF did he hit me for and reacts. Tony however does not walk out into traffic for his retaliation. He stays inside the car and hammers the guy who ran into him. So if Ward was right in what he did, then Tony ought to be right in his reaction.

In the heat of the moment the furthest thing from Tony's thoughts were the accident with Ward Jr. He reacted automatically the same way someone reacts on track in an emergency situation. You don't sit there and contemplate what your going to do, there is not time to review in your mind, adrenalin rushes and instinct takes over.

One difference is there was actually physical contact between BK and Tony's car. In Ward's case there was no contact, he was POed that Tony slid up in front of him and took his line away causing him to hit the cushion and spin out as well as flatten the RR tire. He could have backed off since Ward was out of Tony's line of vision, he however chose not to and ended up spinning out. The car in the front has the right to use the track however he wants to and the car following the lead car has to act accordingly. If you chose not to get out of the throttle then you pay the price for not taking evasive action.

Tony has said in many interviews when there were on track skirmishes that he had that coming and expected he'd be paid back. This time he had no role whatsoever and wasn't expected to be run into while sitting stopped after the race concluded. In other words Tony owns up to having wronged someone else on track, unlike many people today he is accountable for his actions.

BK, in his interview said "Tony had every right to be POed, I'd have been POed too if I were Tony". That comes directly from the instigator himself. I see no reason that Hamlin and Kenseth weren't included in the disciplining actions. They were as reckless as the 2 that did get disciplined, as well as being detrimental to racing and NASCAR, IMO.

How many people on this post have said that the race Saturday night was exciting to watch. Looked like old times. Well ya can't have no action and drama without being detrimental to racing and NASCAR. So which is it going to be? Ya can't have it both ways, either it's going to be a throw down or they all act like sissies. From reactions in this post most want the fighting and drama. Not one mention about the cars all looking the same, and longing for the "good ole days of NASCAR".......LOL

Your incessant support of a man you've never met but who's intimate thought processes you claim to know continues to puzzle me.

FYI, I have met Tony Stewart at Attica Raceway Park, Attica Ohio in April of 2012 during the Allstar Sprints 2 day event. He was racing his sprint car on a Saturday evening that time and my wife and I had pit passes for that event.

Here's the finishing order for that event and you'll notice Tony finished 16th after starting dead last, 24th in the event. He didn't qualify well and is the reason for the poor staring position.

UNOH A-Main - (40 Laps)
1. O9-Craig Mintz[2]; 2. 19-Stevie Smith[5]; 3. W20-Greg Wilson [3]; 4. 2-Dale Blaney[7]; 5. 1X-Randy Hannagan[13]; 6. 83-Tim Shaffer[1]; 7. 63-Chad Kemanah[10]; 8. 24H-Bryan Sebetto[18]; 9. 16-Chris Andrews[19]; 10. D4-Danny Holtgraver[8]; 11. 54-Cap Henry[6]; 12. 9X-Brandon Martin[9]; 13. 5-Kasey Kahne[11]; 14. 9-Joey Saldana[15]; 15. 49-Brad Sweet[17]; 16. 14-Tony Stewart[24]; 17. 3-Pete Miller III[12]; 18. 2M-Dustin Daggett[4]; 19. 44W-Austin Wheatley[23]; 20. 60K-Jody Keegan[14]; 21. 70-Brad Haudenschild[21]; 22. 93-Sheldon Haudenschild[22]; 23. 53-Phil Gressman[20]; 24. 5R-Byron Reed[16]

If you had ever driven a dirt car you know that the reactions aren't thought out they are instinct. There is no time to think about reactions, they are there. Any dirt race car driver would tell you the same thing, they don't think about reactions to actions, it is second nature. The reaction time and precision of that reaction is what separates good drivers from great drivers.

If you go on any online blogs where drivers are commenting on the Ward Stewart incident their opinions are much different than the general public's comments, because they can identify with what actually happened on the race track drawing from their own experiences. Why? because they have actual seat time in dirt cars.

I assume you haven't driven a dirt car for any length of time nor do you frequent dirt racing venues, know drivers personally, track owners, or pit crew members. Any insight I express is from personal experience, not conjecture.

We also attend Eldora Speedway (Owned by Tony Stewart) frequently, matter of fact we were there this past Saturday night watching the once a year Sprintacular, consisting 410 All Star Sprints winged cars, Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series 410 non winged cars, and the 360 NRA Sprint Invaders winged cars, so I missed watching Charlotte live.

You seem to forget, I drove dirt cars for 10 years, sponsored dirt cars, built them, and have been around dirt racing since I was 5 years old, that doesn't make me an expert, however I feel I have more experience and an understanding about dirt cars, and drivers than anyone else that is posting here.

During the Summer my wife and I attend about 20 Sprint car races a year and have for the last 10 years since I met her. Before we met, I attended every dirt race I could to the tune of 40-50 per year usually Friday and Saturday night every week.

Next week if my wife can get Thursday and Friday off, I will be using my K3500 as a push truck during the 3 day open wheeled championships at Atomic Speedway, Waverly OH. We will attend as spectators even if she can't get those 2 days off.

3 DAY OPEN WHEEL CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Sprints, Non Wing Sprints Unsanctioned with Modifieds

October 23- Sprint Practice, Non Wing Qualifying & Heats, Modified Qualifying & Heats

October 24- Sprint Qualifying & Heats, Non Wing B-Mains, Modified B-Mains

October 25- Sprint B-Mains & Feature $15,000 TO WIN, Non Wing Feature $5,000 TO WIN, Modified Feature $5,000 TO WIN

The view from the drivers seat, and the view from stands or the armchair in your living room are a lot different. If you've never sat in a dirt car during a race then you have no idea of what happens and how quickly it happens.

My first time in a dirt car as a driver was at the age of 21. I had exposure to all of it except driving. The events happen quickly and it at first is scary, then you begin to get a rhythm and it gets more enjoyable. I won the first heat race I ever ran, and did poorly in the feature race. That first year I had 2 wins and 11 wins the second year.

IMO, the only thing better, than dirt racing, is dirt racing with a Pontiac.

It's kind of like the saying Jeep owners have. "It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand". It's a dirt track thing, you wouldn't understand.

To sum it up Chris, until you sit in a car during a race or haven't spent many many hours in and around dirt tracks you don't have any idea what it's like. If you've run a season then you'll have a pretty good handle on what it's like.

Thanks for the info, I had been under the impression during this you had never met him. I've met him and didn't share the same opinion you have - but different time, different circumstances. I still think the mindset you are representing here is your own, and although it may be shared by TS, it also may not.

Back to the OP topic....the girl may be able to drive, but she can't race the car.
