If you are anywhere in the vicinity of California, I have a nice '69 lid here , but don't really want to ship it if possible.

Thanks, I'm in South Texas so I guess I'll try to locate one closer to home. I'm not desperate for one yet but as the restoration progresses I'll need one in about 2 months. Anyone tried one of the aftermarket ones?

Restoring a 69 GP, had to use one of the after market deck lids. Fit and finish were very good no need to modify anything. The after market lids don't have holes pre drilled for the GRAND PRIX letters so you will need to use your old lid for a template. The lip on the bottom of the new deck lid is thicker so the factory speed nuts for the letters won't work so I need to figure something else out to secure the letters.

Thanks for that info. Have you tried to fit the thin stainless steel trim that runs along the bottom edge of the deck lid ?
Don't know if a difference in thickness affects the fit of the trim piece. On the G.P. letters...I've seen small clips that hold emblems on other models. The clips push into the hole from the outside and then the mounting studs on the letters push into the clips. Don't know if the letters would fit completely flush against the deck lid because of the slight thickness of the clip head but it might be an option. |

Will double ck through deck lid stock this weekend, have a '69 428HO project, and have cut up and processed quite a few '69-70's for parts.

Trim piece fits you have to drill holes for the hold down screws.

Thanks. I really would prefer to use an original one instead of aftermarket, but they seem prone to rust. My original is fairly rust free but pretty beat up. The one on my parts car is really rusty. If you've parted some of these cars, I'm also looking for a decent pair of "A" pillar covers for the interior. Color does not matter as my car has black interior.

Have a few cars that I am working on, but decent interior parts are difficult to find. Getting ready to bite the bullet and send parts to Just Dashes, great work but very expensive.... long story short I don't have any extra A pillars. Sorry
