I can ask the shop guy who did my trunk floor what prep products he used. I know he took it down to bear metal then laid down a self etching primer before the black coat (required for my Zolatone color). If you want the details, I can send you his phone number and you can talk directly to him. Let me know. He put it down two years ago and it still looks great. He used just under 2 quarts to do the whole trunk area.

Thanks for the info ziggy. I started with tcbglobal. They were the folks that told me initially it had been discontinued. Then aftervvsome searching i located a supplier that had it available in qts. Bought three to be safe. Had to call them aftervit arrived. Two qts were like water. The third looked like blackjack roofing tar only in red. They rushed me another qt. They have two qts left at a warehouse in NC. But i need to regroup. And im certain my painter wants nothing to do with it now. Fwiw.. my supplier says the 20-75 has been discontinued as well.

Well I made some phone calls this afternoon starting with the manufacturer. It is still available. They provided me a distributer in Chicago and they are willing to order it from the mgr if an order is placed by a retailer. I now have the name of a local retailer. I'm in "RESET" mode right now. My painter doesn't want anything to do with it now and I don't want to do anymore leg-work on his behalf. So, when the hood and trunk lid go on, its coming home. I'll deal with trunk later which contradicts my plan. Why TCBGlobal and MidWest said it was no longer available - beats the heck out of me. Perhaps they only want to push products in high demand.

The chief is home and have made some progress on the interior as well. Next on agenda. Install front and rear wiring harnesses, tail panel trim, grill and front bumper. Im on the fence. Dad didnt order hd cooling. Plan on stealing 4core harrison from driver and installing full shroud. Will keep original 3core setup.

Hey Bob, did you use Zolotone Primer? I have used Zolotone products before and they work great, prepped and sprayed my mother-in-laws original steel kitchen cabinets. Is the splatter paint still coming off? All of the splatter paint or just is some spots? Been abit since ive posted updates. Tail panel trim on. Front harness installed. Grill inserts restored (matt i used the krylon dull gray). They turned out great. Pulled all the HD cooling parts from the driver, have restored them and should be finished installing tomorrow.

Would post pics but uploads are failing..

We should be roadworthy in few weeks Yeehaaw
