...I have owned this Daytona twice...purchased it from the original owner in 1989 w/6,400 actual miles...it is the first Daytona shipped in the USA, one of 3 known documented "dealer installed" 440 6-PACKS...purchased it again 6 years ago, it has 9,500 miles now

...and this is "Project Blackbird", a Phantom Superbird convertible (none were built by Chrysler)...finished 2 years ago

...built from a 1970 Road Runner conv...we installed a new 426 HEMI and a Tremec 6-spd...built as an everyday driver

...this is the Daytona in the earlier pix with the laundry hanging on the wing


...my son and I with the same Daytona at the MOPAR Nats a couple of years ago, I owned it from 1980 till 1989

...no laundry on the wing now !

69 DAYTONA, great trivia info!!

Another bit of trivia was the fact that Superbirds were illegal in the state of Maryland due to the fact they did not have a front bumper. Chrysler purchased all the Superbirds back from dealers and owners and resold them in Florida.

More trivia : Daytonas and Superbirds came with two different jacks in the trunk; a scissor style for the front and a bumper jack for the rear.

...having owned various Winged Cars for 35 years, I still find them to be one of the more interesting stories of the Muscle Car era...not always popular, sometimes laughed at, mostly misunderstood, but a truly unique automobile

...I've seen several Superbird verts, but I have never seen that one....strange
