At a car show last saturday, a guy asked if the 428 in my 66 GTO was a Ford engine. Caught me off guard, didn't have time to think of any smart-a$$ answer, so I just said "no its a Pontiac 428". He said "huh, never heard of a Pontiac 428".

Another guy walked by later and while discussing my car, I told him that I have owned it for 32 years, bought it while I was in high school. His response, "did you buy it new?" (Keep in mind that I was born in March 1966, the same month my GTO was made, and I look younger than I am, so I'm told). I said no, that would have been in 1983. I bet that I have been asked the "did you buy it new" question about 10 times in the past two years.

I've got this one a few times myself after I tell someone what year it is. I was born 10 years after my car was built. The funniest thing about that question is that the asker is always obviously older than me, but obviously too young to have bought it new.
