Im using a #2 welding cable on a trunk mount battery application with compression style cable ends. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBP0pMUNLaU -

No problems starting a 9.6 to 1, 455, with inital timing at 12 btdc.

I use 1/0 low oxegen Cu. cables for grounds and starter, alt., main feed to fuse box.
