The reason I joined these forums was for the help tom. I bought my GTO 6 years ago with the intent of a full restore mod. Then I changed my mind then decided for a nice street car then changed my mind again, because I had no help, no direction and am an 80s baby so lack of information. Since I joined and other forums I gained knowledge and perspective, and gradually made my way over here. Almost done building my street strip car. A Lil nervous about my combo but we will see. But to the point at hand. Not fast enough was the quote, fast enough for who? It's your car for your purpose. I am hoping to be in mid 10s. That's fast enough. 3/4 of you guys would dust me, doesn't matter fast enough. Even when these message boards get off subject the am out of information spoken or typed is a great deal of help to us novices who want to join in the hobby. I don't see the point in arguing what's fast enough. Because from what I have seen posted a track can negate any ones fast enough and make it not enough. To all keep handing out the knowledge you learned over blood sweat and cursing. And if any of you are in the Los Angeles area I would love to pick your brains

That brings up a good point, the topics name............actually shouldn't be NHRA saved my life........just saying? I'm sure his roll cage was NHRA certed! Or how about this one........if they would have been racing on a well prepped drag strip (like a car with that much power should have) would the mustang have lost traction and run into Justin? They don't do any of the Engineering, any of the Testing, None of the cost comes out of their pockets, The "taxes" (NHRA Membership, be it racers, track owners, etc does not come from them. All Medical Liabilities are are on the racers dime. They promote a race, period. So you are correct George, you do not have a choice (except to not race). So get off my back when I choose not to play their game. Tom V.

I disagree with George because his opinion is that Drag Racers are the only game in town and if you have experience in other forms of racing you aren't chit. His opinion also is that if you are not racing on a NHRA track you aren't chit. The Oklahoma group has some very fast cars period. I have seen videos of Justin racing on a track and taking home 20K in winnings at one race. Something that I have not seen very many other non PRO racers do over the years. So George is basically badmouthing every Salt racer who set a record at Bonneville. Bad mouthing every American BAJA racer who won in his class at the Baja 1000 and other similar races. Bad mouthing every American Trans Am racer who won in his class at the Trans Am road race type events. So we have an on-going difference of opinion on racing and the different types of racers, even Street Racers. This has been going on for years and will not change. Don't worry about it. Just remember George makes Charlie McCarthy look like a Brain Surgeon. (Charlie is on the left) Tom V.
