That's what I thought, too. On closer inspection - this is likely during the manufacturing process - it isn't installed yet.

It is a crank shaft & its installed in the lower half of the crank case. You can see that the main caps are mounted.

Yes it is indeed a crankshaft, for a 109,000 HP, 14 cylinder diesel marine engine.
It rotates at a whopping 102 RPM.
