The ones used here look OK (that I could see), because it was used on the pipe fitting threads.

When using the tape, don't have it go past the ends of the fitting.

I started 2 threads in and wrapped with the threads. Do I really need to pull it back out?? I'm seeing conflicting info on it. some guys swear the teflon is fine. Others say it leaks. The feed side will be around 60+ lbs since its for EFI if that makes a difference on sealing.

No don't bother. There's nothing wrong with using PTFE there. It's inert to gasoline and as long as you're not using on non-thread sealing fittings like AN or ferrules as other's mentioned, you're fine. If you have to loosen or disconnect that fitting, you will have to clean and reapply the tape which is inconvenient but that's all.
