Well the Pontiac Engineers released the cv679c valve for production on the RA-IV (the 455 SD used a smaller camshaft) so apparently it met their needs for the limited production run of the RA-IV engines.

If you actually put a decent camshaft in the engine then the L-88 valve, (396/375 and 427/435 camshaft were not that big) would work better. Even better is a Ford PCV Valve
as Ford has a list of about 20 different valves for their engines vs the ONE "generic" valve for everything Pontiac. I never looked at the Z-28 PCV valves to see if there was a different offering for the bigger camshafts. Probably most stripped the PCV stuff off the engine and ran open breathers (with oil all over the firewall).

ive used the motorcraft pcv valve in all my engines since the 80s, discovered it had little more bypass in it by accident, really helped the idle with all my junk, cant remember to motorcraft # right now, will have to look, I need one for my buick any way
