You might like this Greg, a little faster than a Mosquito and was operational before the war. We could have used them on Dec.7. After watching the video it becomes apparent that after tweaking with settings this plane could have done the long range duty of the P51 over Europe. With turbochargers it has a 44,000 ft. service ceiling which is equal to mustang. and a top speed depending on models from 414 mpg to 435mph.

Yep, the P-38 was on my 'twin' list...as was the F7F, and the stripped down B-25 with the nose bubble replaced by .50 cals... So many planes, so little time....lol. The P-38 is a little more complex to build though. Those twin booms add up to a lot of measuring twice cutting once.
Of course, when electrics got so popular in the hobby, it made twins much more manageable from an R/C modelers standpoint...but I'm kind of out of the hobby now.
