Better yet, move it while running. It's all boxed up now and stored away- straight-cut gears were too noisy for my resto-mod GMC. On the test stand it showed promise- cam advanced nine degrees (crank) below 4,000 RPM improved throttle response and greatly improved the idle of a very "lumpy" cam. Next time I build a V8 Pontiac I'll look at converting it to helical gears- if i can concoct a compact scheme for containing end-thrust of the idler gear.
