Any one have a core support out of their car that they could take a picture of? Looking for pictures of the bottom holes on both sides that core support bushing bolt up through. Would love to see original and after market and if possible the size of the holes. These are the two holes on bottom that you bolt bushing to frame to isolate . I posted some of mine(on body forum) which have rusted out but was trying to see what the original size holes these were. My bushing are just pulling right through mine so plan is to weld plate and with hole saw cut in new holes Thanks Doug

Great guys looks like 1 inch is the hole size and it's the same size the sleeve on bushing that Ames sells (one of the early pics on this thread) I found a nice heavy steel washer 2 1/2 outside dia. with a 1 inch inside dia. hole.(at the local ace hardware). My thinking is just grind the core to bare metal and center that washer and tack it with the mig.? Any thoughts? The washer will cover the rusted hole by enough to give me some good metal to weld to. Saves me time in cutting a flat pcs and cutting hole. Doug

That should work fine ... although it's going to offset the bushing a bit up/down based on the thickness of the washer .... and I'd do a bit more than tack it, give it a couple inches of weld total ... you'll want to spread the load out on the old, thin sheet metal.
Of course make sure you grind off any zinc plate on the washer before you start welding. |

Only had time for on side today but after a little grinding and a lot of welding it came out real nice. Heavy washer 2 inch with one inch hole worked fine and made sure it was flush top and bottom (cost was one dollar each at ace hardware) . This should have no effect on how the core sits. My son did a great butt weld job when complete I'll send some pictures . Thanks for all the support and insight. Doug

Will do all bolted together but took some pic before I bolted . It's flush on core up and down so height will not be a problem . Left right another story. But what I saw was new core only have one inch hole so once sleeve our vender is selling is in it would not allow any movement. Fingers crossed I'm a month behind but really close to firing this up . I will get those pictures and if it works washer are the way to go. This seem like a very common problem and a two dollar fix for s three hundred dollar core support if that is you're problem . I'm sure there are some support that need slot more than what we fixed. Wiring up motor is next step it never ends .Doug
