I gotta ask, How did those pumps pump the different octanes? Were there separate tanks of octane booster that mixed in as the gas was pumped? Surely there was not a tank for each octane offered. I remember those pumps but never used one.

Sunoco was the main retailer of the custom-blended gas. The remaining stations around here that were custom-blend Sunoco now sell custom-blends of E10 and pure gasoline- 10% ethanol, 5%, 2.5%, 0%- with octane ratings of 87 - 93.
