Well ya'll, there are 4 Pontiac Stockers in Thunder Valley. And, all 4 have won their first 3 rounds !
![]() There are only 5 cars left. So, that means the worst the Pontiacs can do is a RU and a semi-final. Or, they could get winner & RU. I love an all Pontiac final ! ![]() http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop Randi Lyn gets the bye in round 4. If Michael Brand can beat the FS/C, 9 sec late model, in round 4, that means there'll only be 3 cars left, and they'll ALL be Pontiac powered ! Last edited by ponyakr; 06-18-2016 at 02:09 PM. |

Well, I hate to report bad news. But, Michael tripped the red eye, and his opponent will get the semi-final bye run.
![]() http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop But, all is not lost. There will be 1 Pontiac in the final round. Could still have a Pontiac winner.

Not a good ending--the Pontiac also tripped the red light, in the final.
The winner only cut 1 good light during elims, but won anyhow. We've experienced that. Sometimes you get a bye, a couple of opponents red light, 1 gets a bad light, and one breaks or can't make a full pass for some reason, and you win the race without having to make a decent run. It happens. And the next race you may lose 1st round, even tho you make a good pass. That's racing. Sometimes it takes skill and precision--sometimes just luck. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop I'm disappointed at the outcome of this race, but, I don't recall a national event where 4 of the last 5 cars were Pontiac powered. It may have happened sometime in history. Don't know. Anyhow that'll have to be enuff for Pontiac fans, for this event.

Qualifying has been delayed by rain, at Norwalk.
http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...14433#indextop Looks like the pre-entry list shows Pontiac power in 2 Stockers, 1 Super Stocker, and 2 in Super Gas. Don't know if they'll all make the race, or not. https://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEve...NO1&cc=8&rn=12 https://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEve...NO1&cc=7&rn=12 https://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEve...O1&cc=10&rn=12 Good luck to all Pontiac racers !

The 1st round of qualifying is done, in Stock & SS, at Norwalk. Julie Biermann & Randi Lyn Shipp both qualified in the high 10's, with their 1st gen Birds.
http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...14438#indextop Jim Clark qualified his SS/AM '00 GA, with a 9.05. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop I'm not familiar with the SS/AM rules. Jim's GA is listed with a 439 Pontiac engine. So, for some of you guys who know, or at least have a rule book, what are the engine rules for this class ? ![]() This is all I've found, so far. "...Super Stock Modified. These are the old Modified Production classes of Modified Eliminator. Seven classes, SS/AM to SS/GM. These cars are allowed the most modifications of just about any S/S class(es). Dual-four barrel carburetors are used by the majority of the cars..." Last edited by ponyakr; 06-23-2016 at 07:07 PM. |
