Hi guys, I am home now. Came back on Tuesday. Good to be home. 9 days in hospital.
Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes. I really appreciate it. It is nice to be part of this Pontiac community.

The car is destroyed. However, it did its job, because I am still here today.
Have not looked at the car yet, still in trailer. Still have not determined exactly what happened. Car just went left at the finish line at 171 mph.

Now me. My left thumb, at the last knuckle, was torn off. My left index finger was crushed, long and ring finger was broken. Pinky finger is fine. 8 pins all together.
The thumb was found away from the car. They put it on ice.
Once out of the car, I was taken to Reading hospital. They saw the thumb and decided to send me to Thomas Jefferson, in Philly, which specializes in hand surgery. They flew me there and then spent 6 hours in surgery, replanting the thumb.
I am not out of the woods yet with the thumb, I will be on a PICC line for 2 weeks hoping to kill all the germs that might still be left inside. We will see.
The rest of my body is sore. My chest hurts from seat belt harness. Other areas as well where I came in contact as well. Eyes were completely bloodshot.
I get dizzy still, when I get up. I assume that is from the concussion. Or the Oxy? Not sure. Going to doctor today and then hopefully a neurologist, to find out.

It will be a long road to full recovery. Just glad I am still here.

A few recommendations. Don't skimp on safety. A very good roll cage that is welded properly is number one. Good helmet and harness. A good seat (poured) is definitely worth it. I just had a CF unit, not comfortable. Hans device. I have no issues with my neck or spine (thank God). Good padding on roll cage wherever you may contact it. Window net. This saved my arm, but not my hand. Make it as long as you, to cover as much as you can.

Future: We have to see. Recovery comes first.

Glad you're recovering. Thanks for the testimony about safety equipment. I have arm restraints in the funny car. I'm going to look them over and maybe shorten them a little more, based on your experience.
