As someone who is not really in a camp in this as my heads are 6X-8's that only flow 260/220 I have to say this seems to be the best idea put forth in this whole thread. Saying racing is competitive but we can be competitive without being asses about it sums it up. There are a lot of very skilled head porters, racers, engineers and tuners here on PY and I have learned a ton from guys Like Paul K that take the time to help me with my recent engine even though I didn't buy my heads from him and others that give me really good advice without charging me a penny. I get the whole alpha male thing believe me, but at some point it would seem like a good idea to let some of this **** go and give each other the space and respect to develop their ideas and then see who can walk the walk at Norwalk and other tracks. Dyno numbers are impressive to the little guys like me but what is more impressive is how fast these cars are and what tech will filter down to help me go faster with my iron block for a reasonable price. I would love to buy a set of KRE, Edelbrock, or other aluminum heads to make my old Pontiac faster. I need to save up and then I will hopefully be able to make a choice based on real, legit numbers not on an opinion touted by one side or another. I am lost in the tech at this level but I rely on this forum to be a place to get real tech advice not anoth TOBT section from the Bullet. I love YB for the **** talking and chest thumping but this has been a different place for me since I joined a couple years ago and I hate to see it devolve into name calling and personal sniping. Good luck to all of you guys that are taking the financial and reputation risks involved in playing at the upper levels of our sport. Just remember there are a lot of people hoping to see you succeed and make things better for us cheap bastards hoping to move up some day. |

And those 3 years are NOT the same as half a zillion iron heads still being around and raced years after they stopped producing them. They were not being made, AND they were not being raced...except by a handful of people. Some jumped ship, but of those who did only a couple had raced the heads. Some just abandoned builds. It happens. Either way a few racers out there racing a head is not what anyone would call a platform for development. Getting feedback about what works, and what does not. Etc. And Paul you can say what you want about being vague but my posts in general have not been aimed at you, or slowbird, or any other single person. They've been aimed at a group of people. I'm assuming you can read? I've only said it half a dozen times, even before this last time or two. But you want me to start pointing out your inconsistencies as you seem to like trying to point out mine? lets go back to the cheerleaders and the holy grail. Hmmmmmm.... EHTTFMF! Come on guys...lets see your Pom Poms. Because I don't think ANY group of cheerleaders has quite the team spirit yours does. Holy Grail? If the E-head isn't the Holy Grail of Pontiac performance...god knows what is. Apparently the E-head can do no wrong. The E-head is omniscient. ALL HAIL THE E-head! So Paul.....how about the pot calling the kettle black? I'd call that pretty inconsistent with reality. Its not the CV-1s with cheerleaders and a holy grail. |

![]() But yeah...the Yellow Bullet thing never appealed to me. I come from a background where the quiet guys were the ones who got it done. The ones always thumping their chests were usually full of BS. And that usually seems to be the way of it. Just like the ones who brag about how good they are in the sack. But its also the internet mentality these days. People can say things today with no consequences because it doesnt matter...mostly they'll never meet the people they say nasty things to online. So its created this atmosphere of.....nastiness. Gets to the point where its not even that they're brave behind a keyboard kind of thing. Its like they just don't know better anymore and whatever manners they were taught by their parents have disappeared. And before you guys say anything...I actually dont think that way of you Paul. Or you slowbird. Or Jack even. I wouldn't have posted on here if I thought you were really like that. I just think this got carried away. I'd like to see the fences mended. I'd like to see respect. Both sides. But its going to take an effort from us all. I'm not even talking about a kinder gentler world. I'm talking respect for your fellow racer. Grind him into the pavement on the track. Shake hands. Or don't. But let's stop the stuff on here and work together. |

Funny part is, Lil Jack, Kinsler, Hedrick,Carpenter, Leech, Snyder all east coast guys ( not Leech)and probably most on this board, if they were at the track would help each other out all day. They always do. They don't give a chit what head is on the motor. This is just ball busting at its finest.
All this talk about Dick Fulton's car, but I think Brians CV-1 pro charged car will be faster than Mr. Fultons when the bugs are worked out. I think it's just fun for some, so carry on.... PPTTFMF'ERS!!! |

You were hard to miss! Some things you just can't "un-see". But it's ok, you can stop denying it was you. You'll also be much happier when you do. And I was coming out...of the men's room. I'm always happy after emptying my bladder.

I'm not interested in getting involved in this back and forth crap, but I at least wanted to correct a few wrong numbers. I have NEVER been 1.0 60ft in my car. I don't know where you pulled that number from. The best I ever went was 1.12, read my sig. I have been 1.07 before, but that was when a buddy let me drive his 67 Chevy II that went 4.60's in the 1/8. As for the other numbers, the best ET my HP combo went was 8.38, the mph was usually 158-159. My CV-1 combo right out of the gate went 8.08 @ 165. So, that's 3 tenths and 6 mph. For whatever reason, my car would never mph as much as I thought it should, with either combo. That's all I have to say, so carry on....

I criticized you not because your an E-head guy and doubt you are a chicken ****. You are here often. Comments you make often lack a who, a what, a when, or a why or clarity in general. That in itself isnt so bad and I'm no saint there either. But answering a question with a non answer or deflection more often than not when a "cv guy" questions you, seems chicken**** and makes you sound like a politician. PoliticalCorectnessTTF? Not here please. While I have your attention... I know your proud of your turbo buick and thats fine. What or who is your star NA Pontiac that you've built? Shouldnt that be the car to set up races with similar Pontiacs? Genuine questions and no disrespect intended. |
