Car I used to own, to give you an idea with 14" Honeycombs. They look better with trim rings on, not on in photo. IMO, some cars look good with honeycombs, some not as good, even in same model line. Depends on car color, and trim to me. If keeping wood trim, I would go Rallye wheel.

Tough call I love torque thrusts and put them on everything but the honeycombs look good too

Love the wagon, but it has too much "character" for honeycombs. It would be like wearing patent leather tuxedo shoes with OshKosh bib's. I'd ditch the baby moons, flip the white walls around, and get some proper Pontiac dog dish caps.

I know this isn't what you asked for, but here was a '71 I sold few years ago and a '72 I also sold with dog dish caps! Also have most all the wood grain moldings N.O.S. that the guy didn't ever buy if your interested? Will look great no matter what you decide!

I don't know why Pontiac liked that light green color so much.

Right after I moved to Raleigh, a 71 Pontiac wagon showed up for sale in the local bargain trader. It looks identical to yours, light green with woodgrain down the side and green bench seat interior.

The car was a real oddball, 350 2-barrel, 3-speed manual tranny, no a/c. If my memory is correct, it was a manual drum brake car.

Body was great other than it needed a tailgate, but the wood grain and lack of a/c killed it for me.

One thing I always have is an open mind.

Like the Torque Thrust style 5 spokes, yes, they have been done to death on everything, but I love them for me.

However, the Honeycombs have come in and I like them as they are not common at all.

Regarding the mouldings, I am in the U.K. And in 2015 I flew home from Dallas with 85kg in spares in my baggage, including a 2.1 meter long ski Bag for my side trim and bed strips for the truck.

They will always be awkward to move, depending on the longest length piece.

I have no idea what the mouldings on the car will look like and remember everything we brin into the UK has to add cost for shipping and even import duties.

If we bring a car or truck in, the shipping alone is around $3000'so you reallly have a hard core of fans here.

Interesting.y, I am fitting Rallyes back onto my truck, removing the chrome smoothies.

I love chrome by the bucket load but steel wheels and caps work for me, along with beauty or trim rings.

Agreed, I guess if I do a mild 2" static drop, the Honeycombs may look better.

This car is an oddball too, manual windows for instance.

Does not bother me, as I like it for what it looks like.



Hope it turns out worth the money the seller wants for it.


Got a couple of insurance quotes yesterday, in English money £250/year including limited recovery and 3000 miles use
The second company was £190/ year for the same deal.

In England the road tax is free on pre 75 cars too.
If this was a modern with the 350 motor, the road tax would be £400/year and silly insurance costs.


Roll on Sunday.

ooh, I like that '72, Lyn. Did you have that one at Jefferson once?

James sold the wagon to Dale Flowers at Jefferson one year and he pulled the front clip off and replaced it with regular Lemans clip then sold it! It is in Ohio now and getting another T-41 clip. Here's a picture of my current '72 wagon and a picture of some of the N.O.S. molding's!

doesn't strike me as a "Honeycomb" car...not sure it could pull it off. Play off of the patina and go with some nice aftermarkets. I've had several sets of Honeycombs and love the wheel on the right car. If you paint the car and tidy it up...maybe.

IMO, Honeycombs do not look right on wagons with wood paneling.

The faded green wagon in England would look good with Rally IIs, preferably 15" version.

Have to agree with the last two posters. Rally II's for sure. Honeycombs are kinda weird. Certain cars and colors they don't seem to work well with. Others they look great. But I have to say pretty much everything looks good with Rally II's in my opinion!

In the end I decided that car just was not for me, multiple reasons.

I still think it's an awesome deal for someone in the UK.

31k miles and one owner cars are not that common.
