I will be running Mr. Poe's old top end set up (BOP intake, HP's) on a 535. Not sure what the RPM range will be. Cam is a [email protected] .871 114 LSA.

I run a BOP on a 535 with a cam similar to Jack's above and a set of first generation Tiger heads that flow just over 400CFM. The engine is used with nitrous only with a compress of 12.5 to 1, softened chambers, piston down in the hole etc. I shoot to have the shift occur right around 7500 to 7600 RPM.

Got a dry sump G, 8K+ might need it.
Mike told me he thought the Tiger was a better intake to start out with. Then the accident. Finally talked to J Marcella about what he said. He liked the Tiger but said the intake flange needed to be cut off and fit to the heads. said better than ported Victor with plenty of room to grow. Look, any good intake at this level you will have 2K+ into by the time you are done. Just hard to believe I could go wrong listening to him about heads and intakes. But Gman, everything i heard was the intake you now have is bad to the bone, best BOP JM ever did. Could have just about built a sheet metal for the money into it. You just go out and rip the heads off chebby boys, in New Jersey, in your Evil Kinevil helmet. Rock On Real Pontiacs |

At what level? Bet most of the guys here that posted don't have near that into theirs. I think for some reason the BOP has gotten a bad rap to some extent. I don't know of another intake that'll make make over 1000hp pretty much out of the box.

I am sure you are right slowbird. But who am I to disagree with Mike when he told me that a ported Victor would choke his heads that I was buying and he liked the Tiger. Ported Victors have made right at 1000HP with E heads. More than enough for me.

Granted the BOP isn't perfect it does require ci and mid 7000rpm but it can get the job done. |

I think Steve C and John Dinkel tried on on the motor in the Fairmont .

I run a BOP on my out of the box Tigers with just a port match. This isn't an all out effort, detuned for the street it made over 900 HP under 7000 on a 525. I talked to many about switching to a Tiger intake I was told they both make about the same HP the Tiger makes a little more TQ but the BOP makes more top end power. I stayed with the BOP to help hook on the street.

So what is the actual debate here.?
My personal opinion is... Out the box I like the Tiger Heavily modified I like to bop. But really I don't like either. Lol |

I do agree the Tiger is a nice intake but it only fits the Tiger heads (for the most part). |

We dyno tested Both a Victor intake and the BOP intake on John's 526 motor with 400+ cfm High Port heads. The Victor intake made 910.5 hp at 7000 rpm. The BOP intake made a bit more power, the average was about 9-10 hp. But the BOP intake made peak power at a higher 7400 rpm. Used the same 8896HP Dominator carb. For now he felt the slight gains didn't warrant pushing the engine to the higher rpm so for now the Victor is in use until the BOP intake has the fogger system installed. Like many projects the intake is still sitting !
On our specific port configuration the HP heads use an adapter/spacer to match the Victor intake to the cylinder heads. Because of the extra added thickness involved with this adapter/spacer and the Victor carb spacer the testing is really not apples-to-apples. Ft. lbs. Torque: Victor intake / cloverleaf spacer 5800 729.8 5900 729.3 6000 729.3 6100 729.3 6200 728.8 BOP / no spacer 5800 725.9 5900 723.0 6000 720.7 6100 717.1 6200 714.4 '78 Ford Fairmont/526ci Pontiac; true 10.5 tires and stock suspension. 5.14 @140.5 1/8-mile w/nos; 8.86@151 1/4-mile all motor; 8.17@172 1/4 mile w/nos .
