Well, not EVERYbody. But, lots of folks do. They sure do, around Saline. There were lots of festival goers and lots of parade entries. Anybody on wheels or horseback could enter.

2 of the Pontiac powered vehicles entered. One of 'em was this vert Goat.

TJ let me use her Tacoma to make the trip. I see that it got in the 4th pic below.

This was, by far, the quickest and LOUDEST parade entry. It was the only vehicle engine I could hear, over a block away.

It has a BIG Pontiac engine, with fenderwell exit headers, and a nasty idle. It would sound right at home, at a drag strip. But hey, this was in a small town parade. Hey, for an old Pontiac drag racer like me, it was cool !

And I really LOVE the pic in which the truck is right in front of the LA State Trooper ! Reckin what he thought about it. Open headers, slicks, no plates. Hey, just another reason to love a parade !

WB had his Red Bird there, but didn't enter the parade. He picked a great parking spot, right in front of the church. Was in the shade of a nice Magnolia tree. In the shade, is a good place to be, when the sun is shining, and it's 90° or more, in Louisiana.

I'd like to offer a big THANKS to the church folks for letting the car show be in their parking lot, and providing rest rooms. It was real nice of 'em !

After the parade, the Goat parked beside the Bird, on the concrete porch apron, of the church. So, I suppose it was on Holy ground, huh ?

When I saw 'em side by side, the thought came to me of what a great year '69 was, for Pontiac. Hey, there were RAIII & RAIV engines, the Trans Am, the Judge, plus all the other Birds & A-bodies. Hey, the '69 GP was OK too.

Glad I was around to witness it. And, glad I can still enjoy 'em today ! We all had a good time today, at the Saline Watermelon Festival, in fabulous downtown Saline, Louisiana.

Most states have counties. Louisiana has parishes. Many states have creeks. Louisiana has both creeks & bayous. I suppose the bayous & parishes come from our French heritage.

On the way to the town of Saline, we crossed over Saline Bayou. As it flows further South, it gets bigger, and also feeds Saline lake. It forms the boundary between 2 parishes, and a section of it is a national scenic waterway.
