I have a set of untouched 72c E-Heads that I'm thinking about sending out to get ported for a 10.25:1, .600"+/- lift, 455 street car.
Who should I send them to?

I've used Steve Magnotti at FlowTech in NY (steve25 here on this forum). He provided me with excellent work and a quick turnaround time. There are some head porters out there that are S L O W!!!

Yes, I do not have a Web site as I do porting work part time and as I have the time and or the interest in a project.
The last set of round port full race E heads I did took a 3100 lb 500 cid car to 9.13 1/4 mile shifting@ 7400 max without going wide port on them. 750 hp as confirmed by track time.

Like I said, I used Steve, so I have actual experience with him and not hearsay. My heads were done in a timely fashion, and they came back with flow sheets. The heads look fantastic.

This thread is one of the main reasons I used Steve.
http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...=676198&page=2 I started out with intention of doing them myself, but my job changed and I didn't have time. Steve had given me tons of free advice on doing mine, so I decided to just let him do them. He was able to get 265/208 out of my iron d ports with pretty much a stock size intake runner. They are perfect for the stock appearing build I wanted them for. I dug this thread up and it includes lots of pics and my flow sheets. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=736029

If Dave says he can get them done within your timeframe, I wouldn't hesitate taking your work to him.

No Head Porting but Dave did a BG Tri-power Intake Manifold for me that I was very happy with. I was not so happy with Jim L as he sent the intake back to me with a $50.00 value and it was lost for a couple of months with no one really caring about a $50.00 part.
A Lot of effort and nagging and I eventually tracked down the intake. Dave W. A+ grade Jim L. C- grade Make sure that they insure your finished parts for the true value. Tom V.

Based on input from two people quite some time ago he was in the process of selling his business. At the time he had someone helping him at the shop. One of these persons received a complete set of custom ported Edelbrock cylinder heads that ended up with issues (not the port work). But reported the 'helper' did the assembly. .

Somewhat related, if these cylinder heads are the older combustion chamber design and if interested Dave at SD Performance has a CNC program to change them to the newer 'heart shaped' chamber. And of coarse has CNC programs for port work.

Dave can get 374cfm out of std port E heads, 300cfm out of iron D ports, and I believe 400cfm out of std port HPs. All those numbers are near/at the top of the heap. Same guy, must mean something. Dave and Marcella are the two head porters who impress me the most in our world.
There are more but my personal favorites. And Dave has some good prices for his work too. |

The OP stated these would be for a 455" 10.25 :1 street car. I think some of these recommendations would be a bit overkill.
