Car and Driver devoted a large part of the current issue to the many aspects of this subject.
20 years ain't going to happen. Fox news reported in the last day or two about a "driver less" shuttle recently launched in Las Vegas. It wrecked before the 1st day was out. Supposedly a semi was at fault but honestly...what difference does that make?

Each party involved in a litigated accident is typically assigned a percentage level of fault. It would be interesting to hear what the shuttle company’s vehicle did to avoid the accident. Just slowing down or stopping may not be good enough. In driverless vehicles, liability rests with the deep pocket software companies navigating the vehicle. In human driven vehicles, liability rests with the driver, who typically only carry a $25,000 policy.

The Ontario Government is jamming this down our throats,....starting with an $80 million dollar research facility (over the next 5 years) to study "autonomous vehicles".
