Most transmission shops won't even touch a 200 because they do not want their name affiliated with a product destine to fail. Performance shops will take your money, a lot of it, and build a 200 for around $3000.00 that may hold up fairly well. A $900.00 700 will hold up better and any good shop has no problem putting their name on it. You want better, you do a 4L80.

If GM thought the 200 was any good they would have designed a case to bolt it into a Corvette. However, GM was plagued with warranty claims due to poor metallurgy causing failure after failure that GM killed it off and cut their losses after a few short years.

To say a 200 is a good transmission is to say the Cadillac Northstar or HT 4100 is a good engine.

There is a good reason why GM puts that little blue button on the rear view mirror. It is so you can call a tow truck.
