Not just no, but hell no! So years ago "comfortably" really meant "scared to death and in constant danger".

Can you even imagine? Of course we didn't have car seats then either.

I like the mysterious shadows of the adults, ominously projected against the side of the car, like in a Hitchcock movie.
Seems appropriate. K

The louder the squalling, the closer you were to the car in the next lane.

The Corvette motorhome seems to be missing a [needed] wheelie bar...

Back in the 80’s I had a golden retriever despite being rather allergic! Because of that when I had to take her somewhere I just let her hop in the trunk and I’d leave the lid open. No one seemed to care back then, I’d even cross the border to get to our cottage in Maine, 350 miles each way. Dog loved it!
Of course this was the same dog that would jump off our sea wall, run down the beach and swim out into the ocean, she’d be gone for a few hours sometimes. Beyond sight even with binoculars, always wondered what possessed her. She never swam into a shark or fell out of the trunk and so she passed away at a very ripe for a golden 14 years sleeping in the sun on the sea wall,. May I be so lucky!

Still - I don't think hanging on the side of the car would be good for anyone!
