"ALL ORIGINAL"... hugely over-used term... rarely ever possible to be true. Often easily easily disproved by simply looking at the audio system in the car!

"Bobcat" ... there are more GTO Bobcats around now than ever could possibly have been set up by Royal Pontiac or Milt S. back in the day.

"Original Headrests" (on a 1967 or 1968 GTO)... if I see one more 1968 GTO with 1969-later head restraints on it I'll scream. Out of 6 cars seen at Scottsdale auctions ALL had 1969-later head restraints, not the correct factory original optional restraints made in 1967 and 1968. But every seller swore they were factory original!!! And one seller had the audacity to claim that his 1968 "GTO"(with the grille painted black and 1959-later head restraints and wrong glamor rings) was "all-original" and "one owner"...

"Correct".... usually when this word is used, you can expect just the opposite

"GTO tribute".... Usually means it started life as a 6-cylinder LeMans and nobody wants to call it a fake GTO, so they came up with this cute name.

Curious..what's the giveaway? I had a '68 back in the '80s that had headrests. I never paid that much attention to them because back then I did not know how rare it was on '68 and earlier cars. My RECOLLECTION of them was that they were visibly different than the '67 which makes me think they were pretty close to the '69.
Only photo I have that shows them at all is this one from when I first bought it..bent bumper and all.

I'm curious too. I don't know a lot of the small details that make up GTO's, so I'd love to know!

Agreed. If Royal had sold all of the cars that have Royal license plate frames they would still be dealer prepping them.

Back to topic: Put me down as one who is a bit sensitive about the liberal use of the word "survivor".
