(Just enough to keep the engine turning, maybe without hammering the bearings) As Paul stated, if it was pre-ignition, the engine would cease to run. When I had it I worried about it as the engine was more like bucking than running at 1-300 rpm. I don't know what the minimum rpm an oil pump requires to pump oil, but that was my concern. Did not have the presence of mind to look at oil pressure.
