I wish them the best of luck.
I just don't ever see it happening. Ever if reducing weight by 100 pounds is a .1 second reduction in time (which it is not) 3450 - 2300 = 1150 pounds reduction 7.40 - ((1150 / 100) * .1) = 6.25 new et Stan

They get a reduction for minus weight
then the advantages of mid-engine FunnyCar chassis then aero factors of body then whatever additional gypsy voodooo magic newly added under the hat = 5.973 with the Newton calculator (Fig Newton - not Isaac) It must already be doing some lazy low 6's if they feel 5.9's coming

I have an idea. They'll probably be out in a few weeks, so let's wait and see. Is that OK with you?? ![]() Jim

I hope they can / do. But GTOGeorge has made this like playing 20 questions. I can only base what I posted on that information. Clearly if they have modified the engine since the 7.4 @ 3450# or if there were any problems on that run which cause it to be slow than it would be a different story. Stan

5's are more difficult on the track than they are on the internet. Ask me how I know.
![]() Best of luck to them. It's fun to see more Pontiacs pushing the ET envelope. Eric

GTOGeorge, All valid points. The Title of the thread is question. I gave my answer. I am sorry if some people do not like that answer. Yes, in a couple of week we should have an answer from real on the track performance. Stan

Don't be sorry Stan, when someone needs math, they will be asking you to do your magic! The thread was like pulling teeth, very little info with a photo and 5 seconds in the topic area. Like that has been done a lot here. SMH

I think he means me. I didn't like the answer because it just used the old "100#=.1 second" formula that's been around since I was driving a 16-second car. It's a gross over-simplification and we might have real world results soon, so why bother with crude estimates? I just looked it up: alcohol funny cars (not Pontiac-powered, of course) have run at least as quick as 5.41 with some very restrictive rules. Looking forward to a new quick Pontiac-powered car. Jim
