It is not that.

When using a press fit pickup, I fabbed a tab bolted to pump and welded to tube. Always been paranoid about welding directly to pump.

My current motor I had a Milodon pan with bolt on pickup. I wasn’t born yesterday.

So many weld the tube to cast with 70S6 filler. Should use a nickel or at least 312 stainless to avoid cracking NEXT to the weld

Damn...I never thought about that. Even after correcting the spacing, you think it could still hit?

I spoke to Paul today and he wants me to pull the coverter back and see if it still makes the knocking noise. After reading what grivera just wrote, that really does make sense. I know I've had a few hands on this motor but Paul has been there every step of the way. Throughout this whole process, Paul came up with different things to check and or replace. He has spoken to each of my friends prior to them or during the testing process. He really does stand by his work. I'm going to do this last test of the converter and if that doesn't work, that motor will be headed for a long ride to Arizona.
