Those spacers installed added like a 1/4", I seriously doubt anything is still hitting the tray. The witness marks were very minor to begin with.

It didn't hit when the engine wasn't running with the original spacers, it was only once the engine was running that it hit, most likely vibrations, combined with close tolerances. There are 4 points of the tray mounting, adding a 1/4" was overkill, and there is really no way to check it under those conditions unless you started it.

What kind of gaskets are you using between the RA exhaust manifolds and heads?

Good questions. If it's not the windage tray or the oil pan, it COULD be an exhaust tick. That would be something that the builder would not have seen. I built a new motor for my Silvy, and during the first test drive the pass side manifold bolts were a tad loose. I stopped at a red light and I'm hearing this tic tic sput sput tic tic noise. Tightened the manifolds and it went away.

I'd check the manifolds for cracks, check the head mating surfaces and reseal with new gaskets.

Holeshot71,
Would there be any evidence of residue on the manifolds itself?

Sirrotica,
I'm hoping to have the car on my buddy's lift this weekend. I'll make sure we do some testing before we just replace the flexplate. I like that idea of using a hose to listen for the noise. I used my buddy's stethoscope and it was a little deceiving because of the vibration with the car running.

dataway,
Thank you for taking the time to do all of that...that's some CSI stuff. Hahahaha. I will share this information with the guys working on my car this weekend. This is great information. Thank you again.

I would think there should be some signs of carbon if there was a leak. Might be hard to see if it were up between the manifold and block.

Sirrotica,
Didn't see your post on the hose. Definitely a good tool to have in the tool box..
