An internet media source caught wind of it when it was listed on craigslist - and sort of made some exaggerated facts of their own.

There were only a few pictures on craigslist and short information.
Glad its panned out to be a Matching #s HO 4spd with Special Paint.
That was basically what was stated on the listing - but we see a lot of initial claims that don't pan out all the way.
Especially concerning original engines.

That was a great deal and Windward is a nice color.
The large majority of Chrome Nose cars were Special Paint - just from my own observations/findings.
I have not seen the Registry that Mike mentioned.
Only seen a couple/few that were NOT special paint.

Seems like the total production of Chrome Nose is known.
Thinking it was in the 600's ?

This is//was a Windward Blue car i had forgotten about that a PY'er used to own .
That car is down under and still owned by Aus Goat, he's not on here as much these days, but the car is always getting some kind of upgrade.

I did not recognize the car. I was wondering whatever happened to Aus Goat. He used to contact me quite a lot about '68 subject matters. Nice guy. Sent me a nice Tee shirt and cap with Aussie themes.

Mike Nixon said that I have a registry of 68 GTO's with the chrome front bumper, but sadly I don't. I said to Mike that I should start one since I know of 12 of these cars. I have owned mine for the last 42 years, but is not a special paint car, just Verdoro Green.

You could start a "Roll Call" thread for chrome nose 68's
like we did for the Ram2 cars.

But it won't pull up in Google/Yahoo/Bing searches when other prospects are searching for info across the internet
- is the only drawback here
