November 25, 2018...We completed her Blu Paint and Clear Coat. Now to let her cure and move her home!...
![]() Clark still has the front/rear valance along with the header and wing to finish. This will give me time at home to begin installing her Pearl Interior!

Kurt,
I would guess( never having done it) that it take a lot of concentration and attention to detail to de nib a freshly painted car. Is there a tool you use or just fine grit sandpaper? |

Thanks for asking. What to use on a freshly painted and clear coated job is a razor blade held horizontal to the Nib, pull towards you, listening to the blade cutting the high point and leaving a smooth result. Then use a De Nibbing block to work the clear at a diagonal both right and left until you no longer see the Nib or it's ring around it. After the location is De Nibbed, hand sand the complete area with 1000 Grit, then 1500 Grit. Then use a cutting compound with a buffer wheel and finish with a finishing pad and finishing compound.

These photos of 💙"Blu BiYu"💙 are about as close to her being done as it gets without being completely ready for the road. Still need to adjust the hood, doors and put her final polish on. This car exceeded my vision from better than 2 years ago. Can't explain just how excited I was when I first started this restoration. This is my first. I am so happy with just how she turned out! 💙🙏💙

I had 3 places that needed attention since we painted her. I took the time to work out the imperfections. We then proceeded to prep and prime the spots a few times to level out the surface...then came time to ready the areas for paint. We painted them today and ended again with 3 passes of clear...
![]() Now time to cure and then cut and buff and then final polish....

The hose should go inboard towards the turning axis then up to the hardline if possible. |

Spent yesterday finishing the Color Sand/Buffing for the final time on "Blu BiYu"...
![]() I will need to put a finish polish on her with the buffer and then will use Wizards Mist-N-Shine Detailer from then on!... ![]() ![]() ![]() No new wheels and tires yet....still have the front header, valance, and bumper to install....THEN COMES THE GRAND FINALE!...

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am! Every time I fire her up, I have to get out of the car and look and listen to her from the back....She simply screams GTO to me.... ![]() And not to mention putting on her Torque Thrust D and her BFG Radial TA tires....THAT will be the icing on the cake.....

BFG's may look nice, but have as much grip as icing.

Kurt,
Wow! The car is beautiful especially with the new wheel/ tire combo! The hood adjustment is spot on and they are time consuming( hinge up is down adjustments). I did notice a garage heater in one of the photos and I am sure you have been using that the last few days. Great work. |

Worked again Friday and Saturday on the gaps for the hood, both doors and the trunk lid!
A special thank--you goes to Evan Freese for his tips on aligning the hood! Thanks so much Evan! Your help is so appreciated. 💙🙏💙 What's left on "Blu"? Under hood decals, trunk decals and a few interior details to nail down!

Kurt,
Went back and reviewed the posts from paint to clear coat but I missed if the clear was ever( or even needed to be) buffed. Was that done or needed? |
