I work 2 jobs regularly, one more when I want to. My primary job is conducting investigations for a state agency. Lowest paying state in the nation but all employees, at least in my agency, accrue 3 weeks vacation and three weeks of sick time per year, with 13-15 paid holidays.

My police job, the full time staff get one week of each to start, and starting pay is 13.50-15.50 per hour.

I worked at our local Sheriff’s Department for a number of years, started at 21,500 a year with pay increases for time of service. We also supplied all of our own gear except for two pair of pants, a long sleeve and a short sleeve shirt. Badge,gun belt with equipment, sometimes ballistic vest, duty weapon to include any long guns were on us as was duty ammo.

There is not much negotiating with a govt entity when it comes to work but there is some.
