Assumptions running wild and varying all over the place.... that's why we use precise measuring devices and a verified reference point(TDC).
Without them... useless "data" if you can even call it that , as productive and enraging as trying to navigate traffic with your horn, and it makes those doing it the right way shake their head.

I really don't know why some are PM'ing you, So what is said can not be refuted or verified?
It may put good or bad info and ideas in your head, but why not post in the main thread?

Anyhow....moving onward

So unless I missed something in this novel, was TDC off on the balancer?
Was cam timing off from new TDC to old TDC, if TDC was off?

Guilty as charged sir. All I can say is sorry. This hasn't been making any sense to me and I thought I was the Pontiac guru since 1979, lol. So you get schooled when you think you are so smart. When you are wrong you learn something.

Moving forward;
Using the piston stop I made I verified that TDC on the balancer is correct.

Addressing the PM question; Some members want to direct connect to help someone. Probably have various different reasons from past experiences here that makes them prefer that method of helping. I appreciate everyone's help.
