I believe most are integral to the cover, don’t know about pre 68 stuff though.

The cover in question is likely for the 400's with the "hub" only balancer or a 265/301. Both these engines had their own unique bolt on timing tabs...

Yup. Almost all are. This is one that was part of a 'last run' of Pontiac parts GM made at the end of the production of the 400 in 1979 for people who needed replacement parts. I also have a 400 standard block from that run. You could buy these from the warehouses. Maybe still can.
