Default Anyone Ever Slice Up A Cylinder Head?

I should have that sacrificial head on Monday and just wondered if anyone had ever sliced one of these up in the past. I can use a band saw but my concern is not so much cutting the aluminum as much as cutting the seats.
I also have a nice cutoff saw that I might use.
They say, "Experience is the best teacher", but I say, "Other people's experience is the best teacher".
Class is open and the teacher is now the student.

We cut up an Edelbrock head with a band saw. No problem at all. A band saw won't know those valve seats are even there. Couple of areas or interest to open up for observation. I would cut the head in half first. Then I would cut the deck surface off at least 1 cylinder worth. This will open up the casting so you can really look at how they designed the coring for the water. You can get a good idea of the casting thickness around critical areas. Examples would be how close the water is to the short turn radius, spring seats, exhaust valve pocket. Also cutting the deck off gives you a good look at the head bolt column thickness which is critical on a light, flimsy, aluminum head. This was a problem with the early E-heads and they had to revise the casting. You will also get an idea of how much of the casting itself is void. It has to have more water area inside than an E-head if it is lighter. The outside dimensions are fixed. So knowing where the metal is not present is important in determining if the head will seal a gasket and not look like a potato chip after it is run a few hours. Look forward to seeing the inside of one of these heads. Looks pretty nice on the outside which means little in the long run. Hoping for the best.
