Why does every 6 cyl car have to be a candidate for a V8/4spd swap ? This car could be a good example of "the common becomes rare". Nicely presented at a show it would garner more attention than its higher performance counterparts. As a driver it could be a great cruiser and get 20 MPG or more.

IMO 6 cylinder cars are boring unless it's a Sprint. That car has wicked sleeper potential. Three on the tree? nope. Stick a 5 or 6 speed in there behind a stock 400= performance and gas MPG.

Because most people are like myself, and probably just don't care. I care about violent power. I could care less if there was only 1200 cars that year that came with a 175 hp straight six and a three on the tree.

Don't get me wrong, I have a respect for the truly rare. I wouldn't yank a 302 out of a Z28 even though you probably make more power with a Blueprint 383. I just feel like a base model economy engine doesn't qualify for protection just because most of them went to the junkyard or got pulled.

Many is probably correct, but I wouldn't say most.

Maybe correct, I was overselling for sure. But I do think "most" if they had a straight 6 Nova or tri five would have a v8 swap on their minds. I doubt 51% of hot rod owners would be completely happy with the 6.

I could not agree more with you. Far, far too many perfectly serviceable and good 4 door cars have been sacrificed to create yet another 2 door car.

These days, go to any car show and see rows of 2 door cars and there might be one or two 4 doors in the line yet they are the cars most people grew up with so they garner more attention. Like wagons. Wagons were something you used, got rid of it and moved on to the next car. They virtually disappeared so now when we do see one, we look at it with interest.

Every car show has rows of Mustangs, Corvette's, Camaro's, Trans Ams, GTO's etc. Who (apart from the owners), is much interested in them? They are like buttholes - everyone seems to have one.

Own a car with huge power, garish paint, crazy wheels and how long does the owner actually keep it? Or how often do they drive it? Boils on hot day, Can't drive it if there is any chance of rain, Dusty roads? NEVER. There's no long term pleasure in owning a car like that so it gets flicked and the next owner goes through the same. Flick it again.

It's the different cars which will win in the end. You can always find an interested person or a buyer for a different car and a good original different car more so.

So given a choice of a 4 dr car with a 6 popper or a 2 dr with a V8 you would take the 4 dr 6 popper? Ever try to sell a good running 6 cylinder engine? I have, got a whole $150. for it! lol
