Before custom pistons came down in price and forged cranks weren't available we built quite a few 455/4" stroke combos. We used a 4.185 SRP piston, 6.700 long BBC rod and off-set stroked the crank to 4.060. It ended up at 446 cid. It was easy to hook, loved to REV and screamed on nitrous.

That's definitely one of my favorite engines. It has great street manners and would run mid-tens effortlessly.

Thanks! I kind of figured that's why I made the post. The other nice thing is the 455 block has both sets of motor mount bolt holes so it will fit in any Pontiac. The 428 takes some effort to put in a second gen Firebird and a few others.
