btw, I wonder if this car could be tracked down by PHS docs? studying the pics I think you can narrow it down quite a bit... 1968 GTO hardtop, RA1, Automatic, power drum brakes, power steering, not sure but looks like Verdoro, obviously has ivory buckets also seems to not have a Cordova top. Car also has power windows, RII wheels, white line tires (redline was standard), remote mirror, soft ray windshield (cant tell side windows), hideaways. No power antenna, but it has an AM radio (FM radios had a capacitor on the heater blower) no cornering lamps, no hood tach, no underhood lamp, looks like it has the standard wheel. I think the 68 RA1 production with an automatic was in the 100-150 range, if you could narrow it down by these specific options and colors it might come down to one car?

Looks like Pontiac called the color of the stripes and decals "Cameo Ivory" per page 293 from the Book of Information. The preceding page shows the paint numbers for Cameo Ivory so I should be able to get a match.

There is a helpful diagram for decal and stripe placement on page 320 so I could use that as a guide. Will look for NOS decals and go from there. I could make my own if I can have a sample to match the font. My guess is the reproduction decals failed to account for the curvature of the quarter panel but that is just a guess at this point. I would have to see an NOS and reproduction decal side by side to make that determination.

Interesting note on page 320....it refers to the decal color as "white". Obviously means ivory but it's interesting just the same. Note the part number 9788233.

Now I know what I need. The hunt is on!
