Why do you have $20,000 worth of parts in your garage for a car that's year's from being on the road?

Here are a few reasons:

You're selling your blue interior you purchased years before you were going to need it and are now going with a black interior.

You bought rims with the wrong backspacing and tires that would work with them for your car years before you were going to be able to drive the car.

And now you're apparently worried about saving $50.00 on a steering box???

I am 2 1/2 years out on the final stage, body and paint and upholstery. I have 20k of parts because the car is disassembled and labeled in boxes. I didn’t buy the wrong wheels or tires, I have 255/45/18 on all four corners, didn’t want anymore than that. The engine is built and assembled. That’s 11,000 right there. Talk about **** you know about. The seat covers and carpet were bought when I was just gonna freshen it up and do it as I drove it before it turned into a frame off. I didn’t have anything but the seat covers and carpet. I sense a little hater in your tone.

1. The car being disassembled and in boxes doesn't count towards the $20,000 of parts. It's just the original car in pieces.

2. You must have purchased a second set of rims and tires already, because your original purchase was rims with the wrong BS (3.75' IIRC) and that forced your to buy much smaller and narrower tires (26" diameter IIRC).

I was one of several that were trying to help you in selecting rims that would work on your car but you didn't want to spend the money to buy rims with adequate BS. I'll be interested to know what your BS is now and how you're going to get 255/45/18's (27" tall) under the front end of a '64.

3. Spending $11,000 for an engine for a car that was still 3.5 years away from being done when built may be why your project is taking so long.

TKO 600 trans with Ford 9 inch from Quick Performance with 3.70 geared aluminum thru bolt center section with billet pinion support with an Eaton tru trac. Plans are for car to be Silver Mist Gray with Dark Blue Interior. Keeping bench seat and adding air conditioning.

A custom roller cammed 467, TKO 600 and a Ford 9" is not a "freshen up" as you claim above.
