Factory mufflers last a very very long time, and only the rubber hangars wear out..

I agree. Years ago I put an aftermarket exhaust on my ‘99 Silverado. The stock system was fine, but I wanted more noise. Muffler lasted a year, pipes about 3. Last time I do that. Stock systems can easily go 20 years these days, even up here in the rust belt.
