If that is the case then why did Tommy pull the Pontiac?

he’s on Facebook, you could ask him!
I’m thinking being the quickest Pontiac still wasn’t winning him any races against the other brands!

I am not on FaceBook.

I don't know Tommy ran a 5 second pass or a 250 MPH pass.

Tommy's car was impressive, no doubt about that...But, lets keep in mind that there were some very sharp individuals involved in his car...Most of those guys will provide results in a very short time...

Its hard to compare Chief and Tommy.

In a perfect world it wouldn't take long................but its not!
Both twin turbo 70 GTOs pro mod cars.........not too hard to compare.

George, I do understand that you are a self-appointed know it all, but some of the stuff you say makes me wonder about ya...

When you have a top tier group building a new car, tuning it on a hub dyno, and then taking it out for its shake down runs, its not hard to see good results rather quickly...Now, in my opinion, Tommy's car had a tenth or so still left in it...But, that wasnt because the people involved didnt know what they were doing...Its just the way it works...

As for you saying they are two ProMods...Well, one is on a 275 radial, and the other is on the street for most of its career...They damn sure are hard to compare...If you were smarter, you'd know the differences.

Well engine wise I see Cast Aluminum, blue collar, bolt ons, versus look what we whittled out of this block of billet aluminum....lol. No disrespect to either camp. Obviously Tommy went out on a purpose mission and afforded the Kauffmans to create one hell of a Pontiac engine. Chief grew the Crow over time to what it is today with mostly parts from the Butler catalog. 2820 @ 188 is knockin on 3ks door...lol. 3.99 is leaving about 800 in the wind. Add 40% nitro...who knows...hahahaha! All in fun, Peace!

Tommy has a 69 Judge. The best GTO, the high point of the era.

Any real race team out there sets record setting times within 10-15 passes with a new car/combo. Doesn’t matter top fuel, pro stock, pro mod, rvw, pro 275 etc… just saying…

No sure what qualifies as "real" but I guess that makes Jack Gadosh, for example not a real race team. I believe it took him two seasons to finally qualify for his first Pro Stock race. Bill Miller, ran Top fuel for decades and never won a national event or set any Top fuel records, but he arguably had a real race team. I think a race team with an unlimited budget to acquire the very best tried and true hardware and buy the best people to be on the team or contribute would fit your definition. There is always some luck involved in the equation. But then again, even having all these things still does not make you a winner or record setter. Danika Patrick's race career would be an excellent example who had it all and did very little with it.

Jack had used equipment and didn’t have qualifying power. You have well funded pro stock/pro mod teams that win within a few races. Same with many other heads up classes. These are the facts. Can’t compare round-e-round racing with drag racing. Danika had all of the tools but wasn’t a top driver.

Tommy’s car everyone is talking about on here is a 70 replica...it was never an actual car as it was built totally from scratch and uses aftermarket body panels and a completely fabricated chassis but it was meant to replicate a 70...

That's what I thought, a 70 painted similar to a 69 judge.

"Carousel Red" Just painted my Firebird that color. Really pops in the sun. Think it was carried both years 69 and 70.
