According to his post on facebook the car was parked on a hill and either popped out of gear or the e-brake didn't hold. It rolled down the hill and hit a tree.

Buick had bicentennial cars for sure. One of my high school classmates' family owned the local Buick store, he drove a new (1976) Spirit of America Regal. I didn't care for it then, but they would be quite unusual now.

I really like the Grand Am!

I've seen that wagon in person...real nice car and it runs sweet...very quiet engine
