Another thing to try is using the cut off portion of your Allen wrench and silicone it into a swivel socket, whatever size they are that fits the allen wrench.
Using a long extension it is sometimes easier. Not saying this will work for your application, but I have used this on my 64. Might have to drop the rear of trans down little as well.
