220 doesnt' sound right. That's too high under most conditions. Normal should be 200 and under for a traditional pontiac motor.
How long did it take to get to 220? What was the car doing to get to 220? ie sitting or moving. If moving, how fast? What was the air temperature when you rose to 220? which radiator part number did you order? Is this a new motor that you are starting up for the 1st time? If not, what was in the car previous and what temps were you running? Are you using a relay for the fans? ie how did you wire them?
