Smart move. Was you able to check valve train geometry. Other question are those same valve spring as the old cam ? Or you put new ones in.

I have not checked the geometry yet, I replaced the valve springs with the recommended crower springs with the new cam.

Great ! You did your home work thats for sure. If and when you can check valve train geometry. With the shorter base circle being 1/8” shorter. Its a good possibility, being push rods are same length as old cam. That its not opening the valves all the way. Making push rod seem shorter

Just rough checked the valve timing per Cliff's directions and it seems to be spot on. I did a compression test on the rest of the cylinders and they all returned 150, I'm not sure if the 175 was a fluke, or that was a side effect of the rockers being adjusted a certain way. I have studs arriving tomorrow as well as poly locks because I was planning on doing that anyway. I will be doing a compression test after I get the new studs installed to see if that makes a difference. My next step is pulling the carburetor off to see if there's any junk in it from sitting
