I own a '64 GP and though I have not driven it yet (I'm in the process of restoring it), I have not seen this problem with my car. Even before the car was taken apart and even after replacing all of the steering/suspension system, I did not have any issue with the steering arm contacting the oil pan.
I think the other reply about worn engine mounts or suspension/steering parts is playing a role in that issue. Good luck and let us know what you find. |

Ok thanks, do you know how close the steering arm is to the oil pan on your GP? when you have the wheels straight. Or turned all the way to the right?

I'm sorry but the engine is currently out of my car and I can't check for you. I do remember that the steering arm and the oil definitely did not touch.
